The Church of Christ meets at 133 W. Washington. Since the entry of the last history book more historical records have been found. As an update to the previous information, this account starts at the beginning.
A group started meeting at the Trenton schoolhouse in the Basil community south of Kingman in 1886 and met there for 15 years. They built a white frame building in the area. It was paid off on August 30, 1931 with a payment of $88. Family names meeting were as follows: Babcock, Blake, Broadus, Garrison, Grice, Hanger, Hunter, Maple, Markwell, Matlack, Millard, Morgan, Nichells, Reid, Rhodes, Ridge, Robinson, Sloan, Steel, Whiltelow, and Williams. The treasurer at Trenton was H.S. Robinson.
Early ministers were as follows: Virgil Smith (April 1935-August 1935), Wayne Allen (December 1936-August 1937), A.P. Henthorne (November 1938), Norman Jones (April 1938-March 1939), Virgil Bryant (March 1940-May 1940), Hugh Rhodes (July 1940-August 1940), T.P. Pafre (November 1940-December 1940), Fred Hauger (June 194?-February 1943), Robert Hawkins (June 1945, August 1945, June 1946), Will Murray (August 1946-September 1946), J.F. Smith, G.M. Martin (April 1947-November 1948), Dale Sexon (January 1950), W.L. Brown, Warren Hockman (March 1951-move to Kingman).
The group in Kingman included the following families: Hockman, Hunter, McBurney, Maple, Matlack, Millard, Moody, Poundstone, and Young. The church has an attendance of 65-70 on Sunday mornings.
Elders have included Frank Millard, Hubert Hunter, Johnny Maple, B.B. Poundstone, Wayne Moody, and Ed Ross. Present elders are Chester James, Leon McDaniel, and Neal Slack. Brent Hansen, Chris Girard, and Justin Pearce are deacons.
In 1953, Silver Maple Camp began with Warren Hockman serving as the first director.
